the IDEA vs. the REALITY

I tend to like the idea of my clothes better than the reality

Though, the idea of my clothes starts at an individual level where the reality of my clothes is a combination of pieces.  Although I may take photos in one article of clothing (or none) I rarely go out in public that scantily clad. The reality is, an outfit is a team effort, and teamates must work together (kind of a sports reference - making my father proud).

Too often I find myself putting on a new favorite shirt with some wicked cool pants and top it off with some faux leather footwear; and yes, all those pieces are fabulous but together it looks sloppy. I believe that some of my clothes are good enough by themself, unfortunately the law disagrees :/

I love when people showcase their favorites that scream their individuality but please don't feel like all of your clothes need to scream.

So if you have a 'crazy' you want to shake around in...

just add something simple

    or if you have simple
add a little crazy to zest things up

Good luck team making!

Cotton Confetti

Every so often an article of clothing finds its way into my closet. Well, in actuality, a lot of articles of clothing have been finding their way into my closet.  And they are all very gay.  I think I am coming really close to finding my style!

On a recent trip to a thrift store I stumbled upon a shirt which I connected with on a food level.  I am not that much of a foodie and rarely do non-food things remind me of food things.  So of course, I had to get it; it being a button down collared shirt. Fierce dark buttons pop out of a simple white cloth, well that's what you see from a far.

"jesus, i'm just fixing my collar, why am i so stressed out"
But come a little closer and you will see pleasures to this shirt that will make your mouth (at least mine) water.   And what food does this remind me of? Well, of course, my favorite ice cream: cotton candy confetti. #winning

"Can I get two scoops of cotton confetti on a gay, please?"

Steve Madden vs. John Madden

It has been brought to my attention, several times, that Steve Madden is not also a famous football player  ::But give me some hetero points for at least connecting the last name::

John Madden played football and coached and talks about football and people listen; so congratulations to him.

Steve Madden is a shoe designer. And I love his shoes (well, my shoes) and I just found an amazing pair; a pair that you should add to your collection.

the OWLER (blue)

first, these shoes are COMFORTABLE. the Owler is the second pair of Steve Madden's i've walked in, and continuing the theme from my first pair, they are very kind to my feet.

second, this classic shoe design will keep your look dressy but casual.  the dark shoelaces backdropped by a lighter shade help focus the attention away from the small imperfections of a worn shoe but present a well, put together look, as long as you keep your laces tied. the detail in the stitching and golden shoe lace rings also bring an elegance to the shoe that can match a roughly worn pair of favorite jeans to a fresh khaki or business casual slacks.

third, this shoe earns high marks on walk-ability. adding to my first point, this shoe is a great shoe to walk in.  i highly suggest you invest in a pair if you plan on walking a lot; a perfect shoe for touring the great city of Florence or the many museums of Chicago. just please, if you know you will be walking a lot don't succumb to ugly comfort, there are other options!

The only problem I have with these shoes is that they smell bad!  Unfortunately, I only realized this after I bought and wore the shoes a few times... so I cannot return them :(
